Delivering Multiple benefit messages – a partnership with NRM
Summary
The objective of the project is to develop partnerships between the grains industry and the regional NRM organisations to identify common priority issues and opportunities for collaborative delivery and leveraging of investment.
This project will deliver communication and extension messages to achieve on-farm practice change that provides production/economic gains and NRM/environment outcomes. A key strategy will be to establish linkages and partnerships between the grains research providers and the Regional Landcare Facilitators (RLF’s), NRM/CMA/LLS organisations and their networks. These linkages will be critical for expanding the research and influence to new and additional audiences via alternative networks and pathways. This collaborative delivery between the grains and NRM industries will also improve the skills and capacity within industries and thus enable a more efficient mechanism for the delivery of key and complementary messages.
The focus for the delivery of communication and extension products and activities will be in the four pilot project regions which include the South West Mallee (SA and southern Victorian Mallee), North East Mallee (northern Victorian Mallee and NSW Mallee), Eyre Peninsula of SA and Northern and Yorke of SA regions. Project teams that will comprise grain growers, grains research providers, agronomists/consultants and NRM/CMS/LLS staff and RLFs will identify a high priority issue that can provide grain production and NRM outcomes. These teams will also scope and develop the program logic as the basis for designing and delivering extension activities and communication products that will contribute to growers implementing the identified practice change.
