FAQ's
What is the time commitment?
AIR EP Board members are generally appointed for a two-year term. The Board meets regularly throughout the year, with the Constitution requiring at least three meetings each calendar year. Normal Board meetings generally run from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm. Members should also allow time before meetings to review Board papers (1-2 hours) and, from time to time, provide input between meetings on governance, strategy, financial, risk or project matters. We conduct our AGM online so that AIR EP members from across EP can attend, usually in October.
Where are meetings held and is travel required?
Face-to-face meetings are held in Port Lincoln and alternate with a regional Eyre Peninsula location, for example Wudinna or Minnipa. Board members should therefore expect some regional travel. Travel associated with Board meetings and representing AIR EP at other events is reimbursed at the current ATO kilometre rate.
Are there online meetings?
Yes. AIR EP uses Microsoft Teams for online meetings. Occasionally, a shorter meeting of around one hour may be called online where the Board needs to discuss or make a decision on a particular issue. These meetings are infrequent.
Are board members paid?
Board members currently receive a $750 sitting fee for a full board meeting. Shorter and online Board meetings are paid at $100 per hour. The Chair also receives an annual Chairperson fee of $10,000, paid in October.
Will I have expenses?
Board members may incur travel or other reasonable costs associated with attending meetings or representing AIR EP. Eligible travel is reimbursed at the current ATO kilometre rate, and other approved AIR EP expenses can be claimed by providing receipts to the Finance Officer.
