Brome Grass Control: Latest Resistance Insights for EP
Brome grass continues to challenge cereal crops across the Eyre Peninsula, but recent herbicide resistance testing is helping growers make smarter management decisions.
Fifteen brome grass samples collected across the Upper EP in 2024 were tested for resistance to key herbicides.
This research highlights the value of rotating herbicide groups and using integrated crop rotations, including pulses and canola, to keep seedbanks in check and protect chemical options.
The work is part of a GRDC-funded national project led by Adelaide University, SARDI and AIR EP. The focus on crop rotations that best support brome grass control will continue through to 2027.
