Are you curious about a career in agricultural extension? Are you currently connected to the Eyre Peninsula ag sector and ready to explore where your skills could take you? If so, AIR EP would love to hear from you.

This is an exciting career opportunity for an ag industry professional to contribute to a range of research extension activities that enhance the productivity, profitability and sustainability of farmers across the Eyre Peninsula.

As an AIR EP Extension Specialist, you will translate independent, applied ag research into practical on-farm strategies. Working closely with farmers, researchers, advisors, consultants, industry partners and farming systems groups, this position will focus on enhancing the productivity, profitability and sustainability of farmers.

We are offering a unique opportunity to design this role for the right person, based on their experience and skills, and the career path they want to build. This is not a fixed role waiting for someone to apply – this is a role designed for your future!

Key Responsibilities

~ Information Delivery: Translating technical research data into easily understood, practical advice to improve crop productivity, profitability and sustainability

~ Event Coordination: Planning and running informative agricultural events, field days, crop walks, discussion groups and workshops

~ Communications: Creating accessible content, including technical reports, e-newsletter articles, podcasts, video and social media updates

~ Project Management: Facilitating industry projects, ranging from climate resilience to young farmer networking

What’s in it for you?

The opportunity is completely flexible and will be tailored to the successful individual. It may suit someone looking to broaden their horizons, slide into agricultural extension, return to the region, build on existing technical skills, or define their own next chapter in the agricultural sector.

With AIR EP, you can help connect local trial work, paddock learning, grower priorities and industry knowledge in ways that deliver practical value for Eyre Peninsula farming systems.

You will have the chance to work across diverse projects, build trusted relationships, contribute to locally relevant research and extension, and help shape how information is shared with growers and advisers across the region. Individuals may:

🌱 Have a background in agronomy, looking to broaden your work beyond providing client advice & recommendations

🚜 Be an ag business professional wanting to apply your skills in a regional extension environment

✏️ Work in project management, research, communications, or grower engagement that would like to work with farmers

📖 Have strong agricultural knowledge and ready to explore a new pathway

🔍 Has a healthy curiosity, shows initiative, practical thinking, and a genuine interest in supporting Eyre Peninsula agriculture

The role could suit someone with a background in agronomy, agriculture, farm business, project management, extension, communications, grower engagement, research support, or regional industry development.

We are open to different levels of experience, working arrangements and locations across the Eyre Peninsula. The right fit may be part-time, full-time, project-based, hybrid, or shaped in another way that works for both the individual and AIR EP.
