Are you passionate about growing your career in grains research and extension?

Applications are now open for the 2026 Eyre Peninsula Internship in Applied Grains Research — an opportunity for students or recent graduates in agriculture, environmental science, or agribusiness to take the next step in shaping the future of dryland farming.

This 12-month, full-time role is more than just an internship — it’s a chance to make a meaningful impact on South Australia’s grains industry.

Recognising the importance of building capacity, AIR EP have supported four interns on Eyre Peninsula in the last 5 years, who have all continued on with roles within the industry. Rhaquelle Meiklejohn is a full time research officer with EPAG Research, focusing on frost research. Rebekah Peters works with us at AIR EP as a project officer, Elijah Luo is a full time research officer with SARDI Minnipa Agricultural Centre and Alex Busch is currently finishing his masters with Adelaide University and working on soil amelioration trials on EP.

Funded by SAGIT and the SA Drought Hub, the 2026 internship will be hosted at the SARDI Minnipa Agriculture Centre, a pioneering research facility located on the Eyre Peninsula.

As part of the team, you’ll gain invaluable, hands-on experience in agricultural research and extension while contributing to innovative solutions for our farming communities.

During the program, you’ll develop your skills across:

  • Agricultural research and field trials
  • Innovative ag-tech solutions
  • Extension and community engagement
  • Data analysis and reporting

The internship commences in February 2026 and is based at the SARDI Minnipa Agriculture Centre, Eyre Peninsula, South Australia.

The EP Grains Applied Research Intern is now open for applications on iworkforSA and SEEK.
