Shifting currency markets, an improving trade relationship with China, and ongoing efforts by the US to reshape trade, make this year’s Agri Export special report a must read.

Recording the second highest year on record with export value surging to $77.2 billion, the report reflects on the drivers of the growth and markets that saw all-time high demand for Australian Agri exports.

We also anticipate what’s ahead from an export perspective amidst shifting supply and demand dynamics.

A snapshot of what we cover in the report by industry:

Cattle: The value of Australian cattle industry exports jumped to a record high $18.6 billion in FY24-25 on the back of significant demand from the US. This strong demand for Australian beef was driven by reduced US and Canadian cattle herds.

Cropping: Australian cropping export value was relatively stable in FY24-25 at $22.7 billion with both wheat and barley exports declining while rising canola and chickpea shipments helping to maintain overall cropping export values.

Sheep: The value of Australian sheepmeat exports lifted to a record total of $5.7 billion on the back of a sharp increase in mutton volume. A tighter supply picture is expected limit the amount of product that Australia has available to export in FY25-26.

Wool: Australian wool exports continued to struggle in FY24-25 on the back of sluggish demand and reduced wool production, with a decline in value for a third consecutive year leaving exports totalling $2.5 billion. Wool production volumes are predicted to drop further with the wool sector set to see another decline in export value in FY25-26 as a result.
