In 2022, a near record finish saw grain sizes much larger than average. This should be taken into account when considering sowing rates for 2023. Across many parts of the EP, the grain size increase of 2022 could result in up to a 20% decline in grain sown per square metre in 2023. To address this, it may pay to check grain weight and consult your agronomist to achieve the optimum plant number and ultimately establishment and yield.
