New Livestock Coordinator for EP

| Posted in

A new project is now underway to support livestock systems on the Eyre Peninsula

Livestock producers across the EP are facing increasing challenges — from dry seasons and declining water security, to rising input costs and volatile markets.

A new project titled “Climate-ready livestock: Building resilient farming systems on Eyre Peninsula”, will equip producers to make informed decisions and strengthen their farming systems for the future. Through small group workshops, case studies and practical resources, the project will explore topics such as:

  • Feedbase management under climate stress
  • Water security and efficiency
  • Animal health and nutrition in changing conditions
  • Using farm data and technology for better decisions
  • Livestock marketing and profitability

We are excited to welcome Hannah Gordon as the new Livestock Coordinator, who is contracted to lead the project across the next 18 months. Hannah will work closely with producers to deliver workshops, share practical tools and help build long-term resilience in EP livestock systems.

To support Hannah, the project will establish a producer-led Steering Committee, ensuring the activities remain practical, farmer-focused and relevant to livestock and mixed farming systems across the EP.

If you’re an EP livestock or mixed farming producer interested in being involved, contact Hannah at hannahgordon36@gmail.com | 0408 311 122, or simply subscribe to the AIR EP newsletter for all upcoming workshops and opportunities to connect 👉🏻 https://airep.com.au/events/

This project is supported by the Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board with funding from the South Australian Government’s Landscape Priorities Fund.
