Open for consultation: draft of Eyre Peninsula’s revised water allocation plan

A draft of the water allocation plan for Eyre Peninsula’s groundwater resources is now available for stakeholder feedback until 16 December, 2025.

With latest data from the Department for Environment and Water clearly showing that water extraction at current rates is not sustainable in some areas, there are changes to allocations in the Uley South, Uley Wanilla, Lincoln South and Lincoln North basins. Water allocations from the Bramfield basin will continue to be managed via an adaptive approach based on monitoring of groundwater levels and the allocation approach in the draft Plan. However, a revised ‘trigger response’ allocation approach will give greater water security for the Elliston town water supply.

These are among 16 major considerations in the draft plan. See the YourSAy page for more details including a survey that addresses all considerations – www.yoursay.sa.gov.au/ep-water-allocation-plan-draft-2026.
