Making big decisions before seeding?

SA Growers are invited to join the RiskWi$e one-hour online workshop on pre-season cropping decisions and gain practical insights to navigate an increasingly risky start to the season.

Leading experts will help you build confidence around time of sowing, crop selection and rotation, nitrogen management, and seasonal outlook. This interactive panel session will address key seasonal questions such as:

  • Tactics for early sowing decisions this season, especially if rainfall is limited from now until the end of May
  • What should be considered now to avoid a false break?
  • Which paddocks should be seeded first with which crop?
  • What are the key things to consider for time of sowing?
  • How can inputs be prioritised and considered?
  • Should farmers be favouring lower-input crops to manage risk, or higher-return crops to chase margin—and what drives that decision?

Speakers:

  • Barry Mudge, Barry Mudge Consulting
  • Peter Hayman, SA Drought Hub Deputy Director
  • Stefan Schmitt, Agricultural Consulting and Research
  • Sam Trengove, Trengove Consulting

Facilitator: Belinda Cay, AgCommunicators
