Effective control of brome grass in the southern and western cropping zones
By May 2027, the economic impact of brome grass will be reduced by 10% across the low rainfall zones of the Western and Southern Regions through the implementation of specific integrated weed management strategies. On the Eyre Peninsula this project will include A 3 year crop sequence x weed management trial on the Upper EP…
SA Drought Hub: Glyphosate Alternatives
Summary Demo site (small plot replicated trial in reality) at Wangary, alternatives to glyphosate. Above: Ian Richter, SARDI, setting up the herbicide trial at the Wangary site in 2022. Cropping without glyphosate video Play Video Cropping without Glyphosate Fact Sheet
Drought Resilience Practices in Mixed Farming Systems- Cross Hub Project
Summary Demonstration sites to be established in low rainfall farming systems to: 1. Demonstrate practices to improve rotations to increase soil N and reduce grass weeds for wheat production. 2. Determine if there are other measurable benefits to the farming system e.g. biomass production (for livestock feed), weed control and yield from early sowing?
Better summer weed management decisions in Southern and Western Australia
Summary The summer weed app, created to assist with summer weed management decisions under GRDC project DAW00257, will be calibrated using field trials and user tested to estimate economic returns from controlling summer weed populations.
Demonstrating and validating the implementation of integrated weed management strategies to control barley grass in the low rainfall zone farming systems
Research into the ecology and control tactics of barley grass has occurred and now this needs to be transferred into the development and testing of localised integrated weed management (IWM) strategies. This investment will test localised IWM strategies against barley grass utilising large plot replicated demonstration sites and delivered within key areas of the low…
