To improve the capacity of grains research, development and extension in the Eyre Peninsula region. To further develop applied research skills of recent graduates so they will be able to make an improved contribution to the grains RD&E industry in South Australia. This project will annually engage a recent graduate to work as an intern/trainee in applied grains research, development and extension, located on Eyre Peninsula.

Rhaquelle Meiklejohn (top right) was the 2021 intern at EPAG Research, Port Lincoln. She completed work on Long Coleoptile wheat with trials at Cootra and Cockaleechie.

Rebekah Fatchen (top left) was the 2022 intern also with EPAG Research in Port Lincoln. She completed work on Optimising Nitrogen & Mineralisation with trials at Minnipa, Lock and Cockaleechie.
