Rain gauge and weather station maintenance

Have you checked your weather station and rain gauge recently? If not, it might be time to check things are clean and in good working order, for when it eventually does rain again!

I have reports that in some places it is so dry that even the spiders have moved out…but often they leave behind webs and other debris that can interfere with tipping buckets on automatic rain gauges.

There are weather stations and soil moisture probes publicly available for viewing via the AIR EP website, on the home page click on the EP Soil Moisture Probe Network button. Some sites may be out of order, just check the date of the last reading before looking at the data.
