Call for new board members to grow the future of farming on the EP

Are you passionate about growing the future of agriculture on the Eyre Peninsula?

AIR EP has two board vacancies open, and is calling for expressions of interest from people with a wide range of skills, backgrounds and lived experiences who want to make a meaningful contribution to furthering agriculture in the region.

Board members provide strategic leadership and input into farmer-driven research, development and extension projects and activities that deliver practical impacts for farmers.

AIR EP Chairman Bill Long said serving on the board was a fulfilling way to contribute to strengthening agriculture across the EP.

“The board plays a key role in setting the direction of our research, development and extension work, and its input is so important in determining our work is farmer-driven, relevant and delivers strategic outcomes for our industry and our region,” Mr Long said.

“Our board members find it a valuable opportunity to positively shape the future direction of agriculture on the EP, as well as build connections with other farmers, researchers, and industry leaders. For our farmer members, getting involved also gives them insight into the latest work we’re doing, and ways they can apply these findings on their own farms.

It’s great to have a board that’s representative of a wide range of skills, backgrounds and lived experiences to inform our planning and projects, so we encourage nominations that cover a diversity of skills, knowledge and experience.”

Nominations for the board vacancies are open until 17 September 2026. Board members will be confirmed at AIR EP’s AGM on 15 October. The AGM will be held online, and is open to any paying AIR EP member to attend.

“I encourage all our members to jump online next month for the AGM,” Mr Long said.

“It’s one of the best ways to hear about the work we’ve done over the past year as we’ll be releasing our Annual Report, which outlines our achievements across our research, development and extension activities, projects and events, as well as our advocacy work to build effective partnerships and investments into our region.

“There’s a lot of exciting work happening across our industry, and much of it has the potential to be adopted on-farm to deliver benefits in crop planning, soil management, input efficiencies and improved yields.”
