Lentil trials well underway at Lock and Kimba
Three lentil trials have been sown and managed at Lock and Kimba in 2026 by SARDI, as part of the GRDC funded Legume Extension project.
Trial 1: Lentil nutrition management
Location: Lock
Objective: To assess nutrition/fertiliser applications and their impact on lentil yield
Sowing date: 19 May 2026
Treatments:
- Standard, low and high MAP Rates (40, 80, 120 kg/ha);
- gypsum 0.5 and 2.5 t/ha;
- SOA 40 and 80 kg/ha;
- MOP 30 and 50 kg/ha;
- EDDHA Fe 2 and 4 kg Fe /ha foliar application.

Trial 2: Nutritional interaction of Iron and Phosphorus on highly calcareous sandy soils
Location: Lock
Objective: To assess the interaction between Fe and P nutrition application on higher PBI calcareous sandy soils
Sowing date: 19 May 2026
Treatments: Six rates of MAP: 0, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, 160 kg/ha with and without EDDHA Fe (2 kg Fe/ha) foliar application

Trial 3: Lentil nutritional management
Location: Kimba
Objective: To assess nutrition/fertiliser applications and their impact on lentil yield
Sowing date: 20 April 2026
Treatments:
- Standard, low and high MAP Rates (40, 80, 120 kg/ha);
- gypsum 0.5 and 2.5 t/ha;
- SOA 40 and 80 kg/ha;
- MOP 30 and 50 kg/ha;
- EDDHA Fe 2.5 and 5.5 kg/ha.
