Hyper Yielding and Profitable Cereals - Quantifying the economic impact of management practices for wheat and barley in medium and low rainfall zones of the southern region.
Project Aim By September 2027, 30% of wheat and barley growers in the medium and low rainfall zone across South Australia and Victoria have the information to better understand the risk and reward of employing strategic and tactical crop management decisions for a range of seasonal conditions to maximise profitability of the cereal phase.
Project Activities
- EP trial site sown at Lock in 2024, research delivery by EPAG Research.
- Trial visited in 2024 season following frost event at Lock.
- Trial harvested and results analysed and presented at the AIR EP Member Days Feb 2025.
- Lock/Murdinga/Tooligie crop walk to trial site on 7 October 2025. Presented by Andrew Ware & Jake Giles, EPAG Research, 20 attendees.
- Rudall/Tuckey sticky beak day visit to site on 2 Oct 2025, presented by Jake Giles, EPAG Research, 38 attendees
